A new housing project has been opened by politician Frank Field in the Wirral.

The MP for Birkenhead has welcomed Prenton’s Bidston Road development; a one-time care home now transformed into a £1.9m refurbishment and designed to provide 21 two-bed apartments. Undoubtedly, the new homes will need some further work at some stage, opening up opportunities for joiners in Wirral and other tradesmen in the area.

The Regenda group will make the apartments available to those who need affordable rented housing.

Field commented on the project, saying that he believes the development is seriously impressive considering quality homes are very much needed. He is looking forward to seeing further Regenda projects in the future.

All of the apartments feature bespoke layouts. Some come with features that were incorporated into the care home it once was, including a central staircase, now refurbished, and bay windows.

Regenda’s director for development, Martin Davies, said:

“Regenda has worked in partnership with Wirral Council to deliver this much needed high quality, accommodation for local residents. This excellent development clearly demonstrates our commitment to continually invest in our neighbourhoods. We are delighted that the homes are now completed, and will soon be allowing our residents to start brand new lives in beautiful homes.”

George Davies, community and housing safety member for Wirral Council, said that the need for affordable yet quality housing is greater than ever before and the Council is delighted that it is in a position to support the development.
